Labrador Retriever Outdoor Photo Session | Medina, Ohio Dog Photography

I love supporting local charities when I can by donating to the silent auctions they hold at fundraising galas and events. Last year I donated a Signature session to the Lake Erie Labrador Retriever Rescue and through that channel I met Melissa and Tim - winners of the session and loving owners of these two gorgeous Lab girls. Since the LabTie & Tails Gala is held in October, by the time the event had passed and we started planning their session the nice weather days had already dwindled down to just about nothing. We concurred that we'd try for a snow session over the winter, but we never really got a good heavy snow that stuck around long enough for us to schedule a session!
Finally, spring came and almost a year later we were able to get out and photograph these beauties! I couldn't have asked for better models, they nailed it! Whether I asked them to jump over a log, or jump up ON a log - they took it all in stride.
One of the goals of the session was to get good photographs of Emma (Black Lab) and Dakota (Yellow Lab) together. They made it super easy though, and took to posing together like they were pros! (With a short break to do a bit of romping and wrestling to get loosened up of course!)
After getting our action shots and posed portraits we changed it up and got mom and dad even more involved in the process by having them assist for some big sky, wide-angle shots of the girls together. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these snappy wide angle images. They are so much fun, and they never fail to fill me with happiness. These images are quickly becoming my most popular photos!
I also tried to focus on each of the girls individually as well to show off their different personalities. Dakota is the baby of the family, and at only 2 years of age her goofy, silly personality is on full display.
Emma is the older sister, and she may not be one for long periods of crazy antics and full-speed runabouts, but her ultra sweet personality shines right through in the portraits captured of her resting in the shade after those exhausting action shots. ;)
These girls did amazingly well for their session, I am so, so glad I met their family! Plus, I totally got some serious Labrador love during their reveal! (Let's be honest, that's the one of the best perks of the job!)
